Datgel View — Security & Hosting

Datgel View — security and hosting. Two deployment options. Your data stays where you decide.

Two deployment options

Self-host (Docker)
  • Runs on your server or your Azure / cloud subscription
  • Connects to your existing gINT SQL Server — data never leaves your network
  • You control updates, backups, network access
  • Customer-provided TLS certificate via reverse proxy (nginx, Caddy, IIS, etc.)
Datgel-managed Azure
  • We run it for you in Azure App Service (Linux container)
  • Daily backups of the application database with 30-day retention
  • Application updates applied on each Datgel View release
  • Security patching of the underlying platform
  • Availability and error monitoring with proactive alerting
  • Australia East data residency by default; other regions on request

Authentication

Datgel View uses OpenID Connect (OIDC) via 10Duke for authentication. Single sign-on with your existing identity provider (Azure AD / Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Okta) is supported via 10Duke federation. Per-organisation roles control admin and end-user access; per-project assignment controls who sees which data.

Data residency

For self-hosted deployments, data stays wherever you put the container. For managed hosting, the default region is Australia East. Other Azure regions are available on request — contact us for pricing.

What we store

The application database (a SQLite file in self-host, an Azure-hosted equivalent for managed) holds:

  • Per-organisation project assignments (which 10Duke org has access to which gINT project)
  • User-to-project access mappings
  • Uploaded GeoJSON / KML overlays
  • Metadata for files attached to points (the files themselves are stored on the deployment's filesystem)
  • NLog application log files

Your gINT database is never copied. Datgel View reads from it on demand via SQL.

Backups & retention

  • Managed hosting: daily backups of the application database, 30-day retention. Your gINT SQL Server is your responsibility.
  • Self-hosted: the application database is a single file at /app/data/projectview.db — back up alongside your other infrastructure backups.

Updates

Datgel View releases happen on a regular cadence. For managed hosting, updates are applied automatically on each release with prior notice for breaking changes. For self-hosted, you pull the new container image when it suits your change-control process.

Compliance

We're a small team and don't currently hold ISO 27001 or SOC 2 certifications. We're happy to walk through our security posture in detail with your IT or compliance team — send us an enquiry for an introductory call.
