gINT Licensing Options

gINT Software is licensed to meet a variety of different users needs. There are two main licensing options available which are Location Based Licensing and WAN (wide area network) Licensing. See below for a complete description of each.

All of the gINT license types are comprised of the software, the user documentation, and one user license of any type. You may also combine different licensing options together. For example, WAN licenses may be combined with location-based licenses.

Licenses may also be upgraded and or converted to other license types. For example, you can upgrade gINT Logs to gINT Professional or convert single user licenses to LAN license. Discounts are also available depending on the type of and quantity of the licenses being ordered.

Location Based Licensing

Location based licenses are for individual office locations where each office has its own unique street address. Licenses for each office location are issued for the exclusive use of that office only, and sharing of licenses between offices is strictly prohibited.

There are three types of location based licensing which are Single User, Single User Hardware Key, and LAN Hardware Key licenses.

Single User Licenses

A Single User License is either licensed with a software key or a hardware key. A software key allows gINT to be installed on a multiple workstations, but licensed only on one workstation. The license may be transferred to another PC using a process that takes a few minutes.

A hardware key allows gINT to be installed on an unlimited of workstations within the office location but only the workstation that has the hardware key can use the software.

For Single User licenses with software key, a hardware key can be purchased for that license at any time. You can also have a mix of single user licenses. For example, you may wish to have a dedicated workstation in the office for gINT, but also have a single user license with a hardware key for use in the field on laptops etc.

Local Area Network (LAN) Licenses

A location based LAN license allows gINT to be installed on an unlimited number of workstations within the office location with the license(s) being accessed over a LAN.

The number of licenses available will determine how many users can access the gINT Software product simultaneously. For example, if the office has 3 LAN licenses, then 3 users can access gINT Software at the same time over the LAN.

The LAN licenses are controlled by a USB hardware key attached to a license server computer. The license server computer could be a file server or a client PC and the server computer should be always switched on to allow license access.

Individual licenses may be “borrowed” from the LAN license for up to 180 days, allowing the flexibility to put a license on a notebook pc for use off the LAN.

Timed Licenses

A gINT Timed License is a fixed term license which allows gINT to be used for a specific period of time. The license term is annual, with a monthly term available for gINT Professional only. Clients can purchase multiple terms, renew their license periods, and reactivate keys with an expired license period.

Each gINT Timed License includes a USB-Key. These keys are required to use gINT, and for license renewals and reactivations. Please note that lost, damaged or stolen timed license keys cannot be replaced.

gINT Timed Licenses can be upgraded to other product levels (E.g. from annual gINT Logs to annual gINT Professional). Credits will be given towards these upgrades, and also towards product purchases.

Wide Area Network (WAN) Licensing

WAN licenses allow gINT Software to be installed on an unlimited number of workstations at multiple office locations within a single organisation with the license(s) being accessed over a WAN. The number of licenses available will determine how many users can access gINT Software at the same time.

WAN licenses are great for organisations that may have part-time gINT users in multiple office locations and who do not have the need for dedicated location based licenses but require gINT to be available full-time in each office location. It is also easy to add to the number of licenses available for the entire organisation.

WAN licenses are generally more cost effective for multiple offices with part-time gINT users and also have the advantage of avoiding primary license fees for each individual location.

Individual licenses may be "borrowed" from the WAN license as described in the LAN section. Administrators can control user rights to the licenses.

Academic Licensing

gINT Software offers considerable discounts to Academic Institutions and Students.

Depending on how gINT is to be used, will determine the best arrangement of licenses. Please contact Datgel to discuss the best solution for you.
